Buddleja fallowiana
It is the turning point of summer: the moment when different, more musky and exotic perfumes greet you on the garden path. Now phlox and buddleja take over from the roses, and honeysuckle (when it is warm enough) permeates the evenings.
Buddleja fallowiana has become a bigger feature of one of our centre borders than I envisaged when I planted it. We spoil it with food and water. Its long white-felty shoots and heavy purple flowers are weighing on its neighbours, including this Campanula lactiflora. But together they make a lovely soft tangle of granny colours.
