Paeonies

The dry warm spring has been perfect for paeonies; they are flowering in total health with no sign of rot or wilt, their hard-cut leaves sturdy and healthy, each plant a picture - augmented, in this case, by the huge flint I found in the fields and set up to look Chinese beside them

.

There are more spectacular flowers (e.g. 'Bowl of Beauty') than this simple singleton, which I believe has the banal name of 'White Wings'. But I love its generous mass of golden stamens and the slight wave in its wide ragged petals. It also has a very faint scent. I have seen a reference to paeony scent in a wine-tasting note. Is there a smell I should be able to identify?
