Tulbaghia violacea
I only met this South African member of the onion family last year in the South of France when I asked what the graceful little swaying pink trumpets were in pots along the top of a wall. They were in flower from spring to late autumn; the most elegant understated eye-catchers you can imagine.
I grow them now in a tall 10-inch pot in the conservatory, where they are in flower by May, then put them out where their silhouettes can be seen. They might be lost in the ground, but at eye-level they are enchantingly pretty all summer.
