Back to latest Flower of the Week

Dahlia Bishop of Canterbury
2 October 2009

The Bishop of Llandaff is so well known, and with good reason, that he has become a bit of a cliché. This year I planted a bench of bishops to see if his lordship has special qualities his colleagues lack. He is indeed comely, brilliant red with elegantly cut robes of dark red leaves.

But so is the Bishop of Canterbury: the same bright red, with the same robes, only a rather simpler, straightforward single flower. And perhaps a little more vigour. He is my Flower of the Week. Why not
Archbishop, though?
