Rudbeckia “Goldsturm”
There is nothing sophisticated about this brilliant supporter of the end of summer. The rudbeckias are American prairie flowers, named after ‘one of the most remarkable Swedes of all time’, Olof Rudbeck (1630-1702), who founded the Uppsala Botanic Garden, was botanist, anatomist and antiquarian – indeed the Swedish Tradescant. His son, also Olof, was sponsor to Linnaeus when he was a poor student at Uppsala – a fine pedigree for a simple yellow flower.
